About the Author
Lindy Mayberry Sellers lives on a 12 acre hobby farm in the beautiful Southern Piedmont of North Carolina with her husband and three children. During the summer months, you can find her selling handcrafted soaps, jams, jellies, breads and photography at the farmers market. When she is not selling at the market you might find her tending to her garden, sewing with vintage patterns, painting a barn quilt or sewing a real one one, making herbal teas, taking photographs, growing flowers or just trying to do things the old fashioned way.

Yum, yum, yum! I love it!

If you love food that literally comes straight from the pasture to the plate, you will love this book! It's filled with pictures and stories of people passionate about eating natures best.
The authors long love for a taste of natures is clearly seen through the this book. Whether it be her own experience or of the many farmers and artisans she interviewed, each bring a fresh perspective to selling their goods at a farmers market.
Lindy's book not only takes us into the food these farmers sell, but also into their lives and the love affair they have with home grown food. Even for someone who is not much of a market goer, it's hard not to get interested in something that is a far more healthier option than some of what fills our grocery stores.
I must admit the section on the delicious chocolates was the best. These chocolates are all handmade and leave you wanting to push pause on your diet for the day...or much longer!
Whether you are wanting a book this book for personal use or as a gift, you will not be disappointed. It would also sit well on a coffee table at home or in an office waiting room.
Oh, and did I mention the yummy recipes in the book? There's no point in reading about all this food without allowing us to sample some of its contents. Enjoy!

Reconnecting us with food

In a time when most people go to a store, buy food, and have no idea where it comes from or how it's made, this book is a gem. It brings the humanity back to our food and the beautiful images throughout the book really help you connect with the people and foods. Touching and seeing real food that isn't factory-produced is so rare today. I also enjoyed seeing recipes that had been provided by the farmers who were interviewed. It was a nice personal touch. Not that long ago, I was working with some continuation high school students who were involved in a community garden housed at their school. They had been learning about how to plant and raise vegetables. Once a semester, they harvested their vegetables, cooked together, and served the food at an open community event. They told me about how much they didn't know about food before and how much pride they had gained through their work in the garden. Knowledge about food made them feel powerful and capable. I will be buying copies of this book for all of these students.

Passionate and inspired to get to the nearest market.Surely every bit of produce and artisan product is infused with love and goodness, that has to be nourishing to the spirit as well as to the body.The beautiful pictures of market food but also the stories of how this food came to be grown out of the unique spirit of each person caused me to glow.I was cheering when I read of the Bruns Lucky Leaf garden born out of the economic crash. And I would love to taste those Joyful pizzas or get one of Nacys' baskets . I now I have so many lovely recipes to try. The possibilities that each persons story opened up for each of us when we get back in touch with mother earth and ourselves ,we realize that she offers us something uniquely ours. Perhaps even a useful craft we can make with our own hands .The author shows us that the work of our hands returns to us an abundance.
