About the Author
John McDonald is the CEO of CloudOne, Inc. Magazine’s fastest-growing IT company in Indiana and winner of the 2015 IBM Beacon Award, the highest honor given to a business partner. Formerly a technical sales executive at IBM for over 20 years, he is one of the founding members and on the steering committee of the 450+ member Cloud Customer Standards Council, a member of the Association of Information Technology Professionals, the IBM DeveloperWorks Advisory Council, and the Industrial Advisory Board for Computer and Information Technology at Purdue University. John earned degrees in Management Information Systems and Computer Information Technology from Purdue in 1992 and 1995 and lives with his family near where he grew up in Indiana. Jim Pietrocarlo serves as the IoT Engagement Services and Technologies Leader for CloudOne. He has over 25 years of experience in the software development community, starting with Rational Software Corporation in 1994 and into IBM after the company was acquired in 2002. Great IoT Overview for Business and Industry Leaders

What I like about this book is the fact that is geared towards business leaders. Specifically those business leaders who head up organizations providing complex systems solutions. Leadership, by definition, is an influence relationship with followers. Many leaders know they need to get on board with the IoT, but like any new system of systems, it is confusing. This book maps out the landscape. It's not so much a "how to" as much as it is a guide to the galaxy. We need guides, because what you see and where you need to go depends on where you are. To influence followers to head in a particular direction, they must first believe that the leader knows where they are and where they are going. This book also addresses the human behavior side of change. It won't be the technology that will kill ya, it will be the resistance that will kill ya. All transformations take time. This book can help you set the foundation for that transformation, and keep your teams on the path that is best for your company.

If you do want to understand what is IoT and how IoT is made do not waste your time with this book.

Let me make a few remarks:
1. Half of the book is about the 'Democracy of Information' which, to be sincere, I find out-of-scope of a book whose title is "How IoT is Made".
If the authors wanted to highlight this concept, a few pages would have been enough.
2. Even in the second part of the book (Part 2: How IoT is Made) the contents are quite poor and show a strong bias towards the cloud part of the IoT..
3. Good reviewers and a good language editing would have removed typos and would have made the reading more pleasant.
